The 4th Iziko Crown Gospel
Music Convention, a unique opportunity to
contribute towards developing South African
gospel music and empowering local gospel
musicians, is going to Durban in August.
The convention, which acts as a fore-runner to
the glittering SABC Crown Gospel Awards is now
in its third year and provides a crucial
opportunity for key stakeholders to view South
Africa’s most popular music genre.
According to Zanele Mbokazi, head of World
Gospel Power House (WGPH) which co-ordinates the
prestigious events, the convention provides a
platform for the gospel music industry to
gather, for new talent to be seen, heard and
supported and for crucial challenges to be
addressed. Mbokazi is inviting all gospel
artists including songwriters, producers, artist
managers, promoters, and interested gospel music
stakeholders to register now.
Mbokazi says the WGPH will also be scouting for
new talent with a talent search. The winners
will get much-needed exposure to the music
industry, as well as an opportunity to appear at
the much-awaited 3rd Crown Gospel Awards in
November.
The Iziko Gospel Music Convention runs for two
days (August 6 and 7 from 9am to 4pm) at the
SABC offices at KE Masingo Road (Old Fort Road).
The convention will cover a host of crucial
music industry topics such as, Recording Deals,
Song Writing Skills, The Role of Media In The
Gospel Industry and Life Skills For Artists.
Registration for Iziko costs R250.00, which
covers all sessions held during the two days as
well as breakfast and lunch. Entrance for the
Talent Search is R300 for groups and R150 for
solo artists.
Space is limited. For more information on how to
register, contact The World Gospel House on
(031) 303 3520 or email nelly@mirrorpr.co.za
during office hours.
